O Dduw rho imi aden ffydd

(Give me the wings of faith to rise)

1,2,3,4,(5).
(Y dyrfa waredigol / Y Concwerwyr Dedwydd)
O Dduw! rho imi aden ffydd,
  I 'hedeg uwch y nen;
A gwel'd y gwynfyd yno sydd,
  Gan seintiau'r nefoedd wen.

Galarwyr fuont fel nyni,
  Yn myd yr anial maith;
A chaled iawn yr ymdrech fu,
  Ac ofni lawer gwaith.

Gofynaf, O ba le y daeth
  Y goncwest iddynt hwy?
Atebant, "Buddugoliaeth gaed
  Trwy rinwedd marwol glwy'."

Dilyn a wnaethant ol ei droed,
  Yn ffyddlon yn y byd;
A pherffaith ddedwydd fyddant byth,
  Yn yr orphwysfa glyd.

Am hyn rhoir moliant
    iddo mwy,
  Gan dyrfa rif y dail -
Y cwmwl tystion aethant trwy,
  Yn haeddiant Adda'r ail.

  Adenydd ffydd yn awr pe cawn

(The delivered throng / The Happy Conquerors)
O God, give me wings of faith
  To fly above the sky
And see the blessedness which is there,
  Of the saints of bright heaven.

Mourners they were like us,
  In the world of the vast desert;
And very hard was their struggle,
  And fearing many times.

I ask, From where came
  The triumph to them?
The answer, "Victory was got
  Through the merit of the mortal wound."

Follow they did his footprints,
  Faithfully in the world;
And perfectly happy shall they be forever,
  In the secure resting-place.

Therefore praise it to be given
    to him evermore,
  By a throng numerous as the foliage -
The cloud of witnesses who went through,
  In the merit of the second Adam.
tr. 2015 Richard B Gillion

Give me the wings of faith to rise
  Within the veil, and see
The saints above, how great their joys,
  How bright their glories be.

Once they were mourning here below,
  And wet their couch with tears:
They wrestled hard, as we do now,
  With sins, and doubts, and fears.

I ask them whence their victory came:
  They, with united breath,
Ascribe their conquest to the Lamb,
  Their triumph to His death.

They marked the footsteps that He trod,
  His zeal inspired their breast;
And following their incarnate God,
  Possess the promised rest.

Our glorious Leader
    claims our praise
  For His own pattern giv'n;
While the long cloud of witnesses
  Show the same path to Heav'n.
